Qantas has confirmed it will launch non-stop flights from Perth to London in March 2018. The 14,500-kilometre journey on the airline's new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, will take about 18 hours westbound and 17 hours eastbound.
The previously unimaginable route will become the shortest and fastest way to travel between Australia and the UK in the airline's 70-year history. Qantas group CEO Alan Joyce commented "It's great news for travellers because it will make it easier to get to London. It's great news for Western Australia because it will bring jobs and tourism. And it's great news for the nation, because it will bring us closer to one of our biggest trade partners and sources of visitors."
Tickets for the direct flight from Perth to London will go on sale from April 2017. The Dreamliner will carry 236 seats with 42 in business class, 28 in premium economy and 166 in economy on the route that will become the third-longest passanger flight in the world.
