2008 Best on the Best: Jason Peppler, chef/owner, Isis, Brisbane

Food shop Pennisi Cuisine (17 Balaclava St, Woolloongabba, Qld, 07 3891 7643). A great little find many years ago with great products and wonderful friendly service.
Kitchenware Executive Chef (132 Merivale St, South Brisbane, 07 3844 4413) and Black Pearl (36 Baxter St, Fortitude Valley, Qld, 07 3257 2144) are two places I just love to hang out.
WinerySirromet, a wonderful destination and a lovely getaway for the day even though they're only half an hour from Brisbane.
Drinking hole The Lark (267 Given Tce, Paddington, 07 3369 1299), a lovely quaint bar/lounge. Great cocktails and wines in a comfortable setting.
Cheese Brique D'Affinoise. I have so many great memories of this, from slicing it in half and adding slices of fresh truffle to it or driving around France armed with some Brique and a baguette as snack. Just a great uncomplicated cheese.
Restaurant Yum Yum Peking Duck (shop 5, 146 Scotts Rd, Darra, Qld, 07 3217 0188). An awesome little Chinese restaurant in the western suburbs of Brisbane which specialises in, yes, Peking duck. Unfortunately, I have recommended it to too many people and now I can't get a table sometimes.
Australian food product Burrata and stracchino from Vannella Cheese Factory - beautiful handmade cheeses from Giuseppe and his family and team. The burrata is just great with some sourdough, good olive oil, sea salt and a wonderful tomato.
Café Cirque (618 Brunswick St, New Farm, Qld, 07 3254 0479) is the best place for a sandwich with great coffee - quick, great and friendly, which suits my lifestyle.
Bottle shop Cru Bar and Cellar (221 James St, Fortitude Valley, Qld, 07 3252 2400) is accessible and has a good range.
Where you're eating next My partner Renee and I are going to Singapore in March and I have been told to go to My Humble House (+65 6423 1881) for great seafood.
Isis Brasserie, 446 Brunswick St, Fortitude Valley, QLD, (07) 3852 1155, www.isisbrasserie.com.au.
