If you’re fortunate enough to be spending Australia Day eve in sunny Sydney this year, we’ve got some great news for you. Favoured Melbourne culinary son Andrew McConnell takes over the bar at Icebergs on Sunday 25 January, serving three dishes from his modern Asian powerhouse, Supernormal.

The eats sound promising – cobia with yuzu kosho, fennel and seaweed cracker, smoked beef tartare with clam mayonnaise and pickled shallot, and those famous lobster rolls – and they’ll be paired with your choice of either sake or Champagne.

Throw in the offer of $10 Aperol Spritzes after four o’clock and you’ve got the perfect long-weekend Sunday sundowner.

“It’s going to be a fun afternoon of surf, sun, sake, music, bubbles and lobster rolls,” says McConnell. “Hanging out with Maurice and the Icebergs crew is always a guaranteed party.”

Supernormal takes over the bar at Icebergs from 2pm on Sunday 25 January. Icebergs Dining Room and Bar, 1 Notts Ave, Bondi Beach, NSW, (02) 9365 9000
