Join us for a very special reader dinner with The River
Café's co-founder Ruth Rogers who's headlining the Melbourne Food
& Wine Festival - it's the hottest ticket in town.
There's no underestimating the influence of London's The River Café and how it changed the city's dining scene. Aside from the high-profile alumni it spawned (River Cottage chef Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall and television favourite Jamie Oliver), the River Café introduced a sunny new approach to Italian food the city hadn't experienced before. Its co-founder Ruth Rogers is headed to Melbourne so we too can get a taste of her bright flavours.
Rogers is one of the headline acts at this year's Melbourne Food & Wine Festival, and we're thrilled to announce that Gourmet Traveller will be hosting an exclusive reader dinner with her as part of the event. The glamorous Rosetta Ristorante will provide the setting and owner Neil Perry will drop by to help behind the scenes.
"The River Café is one of my favourite restaurants in the world and I always visit Ruth when I'm in London," Perry says. "Ruth has always inspired me with her style, the way she cooks and her dedication to superb seasonal produce."
Together, they'll be cooking a spread of dishes inspired by The River Café's signature style. We can barely wait and Rogers can't either. "It's always so stimulating to come to Melbourne and experience its amazing food culture," she says. "I am especially excited to be working with Neil Perry and his exceptional team at Rosetta."
