A truly rustic product from Grandvewe Sheep Farm and Fromagerie in Tasmania and distributed by Spirit People, this is the pet project of the youngest member of the family, Ryan Hartshorn. This unfiltered vodka is distilled using fromagerie and distillery wizardry with the natural by-product of Grandvewe’s cheese-making process: the sheep’s whey. With delightful tropical fruit aromatics, an abundance of milk-sweetness up front, and sublime texture and structure, this vodka is excellent over ice, but truly shines when mixed.

Hayden Youlley Paper Series Salad Bowl – $92

Hayden Youlley Paper Series Salad Bowl – $92

Buy it here.

Hayden Youlley’s Paper series uses porcelain to create a tactile experience. The simple, random distribution of creases in the paper surface of the objects creates complex patterns of light, shade and texture that disrupt the smooth surface and invite investigation and touch. The dinnerware is made by hand-casting the paper in porcelain and, in turn, transforming something that’s often discarded, fragile and temporary into something robust and permanent.

The subtle but clever design of the Ned’s Plat was inspired by Sidney Nolan’s images of the Australian bushranger Ned Kelly.

GT x Robert Gordon Signature Cake Plate with Rim – $60

GT x Robert Gordon Signature Cake Plate with Rim – $60

Buy it here.

Gourmet Traveller teamed up with the crockery masters at Robert Gordon to develop a high tea-themed collection – handmade here in Australia – comprising creamers, cake stands, platters and plates. Detailed yet practical design is the stamp of the collaboration. The cake plates, for instance, have a slight lip on the edge, so if you have a sauce or syrup to drizzle over your cake, say, it’s got somewhere to go. Where the very mention of afternoon tea might have some collectors fearing an outbreak of the tizzy and the twee, the collection takes a different tack. Lace-patterned embossing with a matte finish features across the range, bleeding out in parts to make way for contrasting, high-gloss finishes. Each plate comes in either pale pink, sage or slate.
